Image ALT Text for SEO & Accessibility
Write useful ALT attributes for people and search engines. Sourcer counts images missing ALT on every scan.
ALT text helps screen readers and gives search engines context for images. Sourcer reports how many images on a page are missing an alt attribute in the weighted SEO score.
Rules of thumb
- Informative images need a short, accurate description
- Decorative images should use
alt="", not a missing attribute - Linked images should describe the destination when the image is the only link text
- Filename-as-ALT (“IMG_4032.jpg”) is worse than a meaningful description
How to verify
After you ship fixes, view the page source or run an SEO scan to confirm ALT coverage in the live HTML — not only in the CMS preview.
