How Sourcer (viewsource.tech) handles information when you use the free scanner.
Last updated: October 29, 2026
What Sourcer does
Sourcer fetches publicly reachable HTML for a URL you submit, displays the source in your browser, and builds an on-page SEO snapshot. Scans are intended for pages you are allowed to inspect.
Data we process
- Scan URL & response metadata — the URL you enter and basic fetch results (status, content type, HTML body) are processed by our API so the tool can work.
- Optional email — if you provide an email to download a report, that address is collected for that feature only.
- Local saves — scans you save stay in your browser (IndexedDB). They are not uploaded as a personal library to our servers.
- Analytics & ads — third-party scripts (for example Google Analytics / AdSense) may set cookies or collect usage metrics under their own policies.
What we do not sell
We do not sell your personal information. Shareable report links encode the scanned page URL so another browser can re-fetch that public page; they are not a private document store.
